La Bandita is an obstinate and curious wild goat who doesn't fear to climb the highest trees. La Bandita is a cultural association based in Palermo working in the production and post-production of films, developing participatory cinema workshops, film projections and discussions that actively involve the local community.

La Bandita is a cultural association based in Palermo, founded by a group of documentarists coming from all over Italy. Our purpose is to take care of the frailty of the present by telling stories in a way that is respectful of their complexity. As narrators we constantly readapt to the evolving complexity of what we look at, and we search for a graceful way to add to it and to condense it in a cinematographic form. We decided to gather in a collective because the group makes us understand what can be improved in a much faster and stimulating way than when one works alone. Our collective is always in search of external collaborations. La Bandita works in the production and post-production of films, developing participatory cinema laboratories, film screenings and discussions that actively involve the local community.

Danny Biancardi

Bachelor in Drama Art and Music Studies with the thesis "The killing of the father figure in the first cinema of Bernardo Bertolucci" (2016). 2016 Nastri d'Argento Special Mention with the documentary film on the Bertolucci's family "Stealing Beauty", co-direction with Laura Bagnoli and Fulvio Wetzl. 2019 Diploma from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Sicily with the documentary film "Sparring Partners", selected at the Festival dei Popoli in 2019 and won the TENK prize at Sole Luna Doc Film Festival. 2023 co-director and photography of "La Mura di Bergamo" by Stefano Savona, selected at the Berlinale, Encounters. 2024 co-director and photography with Stefano La Rosa e Virginia Nardelli of "The Castle", selected at the CPH:DOX, DOX:AWARD.

Benedetta Valabrega

Regia, Montaggio, Produzione

Director and editor of non-fiction films based in Rome. Graduated in directing documentary at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia with the documentary film Noi, awarded best film at Visioni Doc (Bologna), Bei Young Doc (Bellaria) and PerSo Cinema Italiano (Perugia) in 2019. She works as an editor, researcher, and assistant director. Editor for There is a wolf in the park of the king by Virginia Nardelli and While talking of the river by Carla Vestroni. Assistant editor of The Walls of Bergamo by Stefano Savona in collaboration with all the members of La Bandita. In addition to her work as a filmmaker, she holds participatory film workshops in schools of all levels.

Silvia Miola

2014, Master's degree in Languages, Cultures and Society of East Asia and Mediterranean Africa at Cafoscari University, Venice. 2018, Diploma in documentary filmmaking at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia with the documentary film Mama don't go, 60'. Currently production coordinator in international documentary programs.

Marta Violante

Regia, Montaggio, Produzione, Formazione

Graduated in audiovisual communication in Spain with a thesis on participatory documentary filmmaking. In 2021, she obtained a diploma in documentary filmmaking from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Palermo. She made the short film "Africa Bianca" and the medium-length film "Fare Paese"; she is an assistant editor and director of other documentaries, including "Le Mura di Bergamo." She is currently a trainer and designer of participatory cinema workshops and works in the audiovisual field in Italy, Spain, and Mexico.

Sebastiano Caceffo

Bachelor in Drama Art and Music Studies with a thesis on Interactive Cinema (2015). Co founder of the cinematographic association Humareel in Bologna. Diploma from Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Sicily with the documentary film La via dei Talismani.

Virginia Nardelli

2013, Bachelor in Communication Design at Polytechnic of Milano. 2014, L'Aura scuola di Ostana doc lab and direction of a documentary short. 2015 "Narrate the adventure" writing lab by Zelig film school and SteFilm production company. 2017, co-direction of the episode "Houzayfa's items" of the web-series "Beyond the Border" produced by the Goethe Institute in collaboration with the DFFB of Berlin. 2019, Diploma in documentary filmmaking at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Palermo with the feature film: "There's a Wolf in the Park of the King", premiered at FilmMaker Film Festival in Milano, winning the Movie People award.
